BLOG POST #63: This week, I’m sharing research on a specific criminal case involving an elementary school teacher, her husband, and an elementary school principal.
She was a math and special education teacher. He was the principal for at the school where she taught. Both were married but became intertwined in an extramarital affair.
Court documents state that during the affair the two had discussed sexual fantasies, such as rape, bondage, and relations with young girls. For a surprise for her lover, the former teacher recorded her 11-year-old daughter while naked in the shower. The video focused on her breasts and her mother asked her to expose her genital area (I’m censoring what was specifically asked of her). Two similar videos were recorded. There was no doubt who recorded the videos because on one of them the former teacher turned the camera on herself.
Many extramarital affairs cause the end of a marriage. After the former teacher and her husband separated, her husband found the videos of their daughter. And he learned that the videos had been electronically sent to the former principal. He notified his divorce attorney of what he’d discovered who notified the Department of Social Services. An investigation ensued.
After her arrest, the former teacher admitted making the videos. On one of the videos the former teacher is heard saying something specifically to her lover, the former principal. She emailed the videos entitled “Enjoy” and told him she wanted to be there when he viewed them so she could feel his arousal. The former principal admitted viewing the two videos before he deleted them.
She attempted to justify her actions; she said her daughter wanted to see her own private parts. She attempted to point blame at her ex-husband—that he was lying, and that he was the only person who downloaded and copied the videos.
With overwhelming evidence against both the former teacher and the former principal, and to avoid any further trauma to the child, they accepted plea agreements. The former teacher pleaded guilty to possessing and transporting child pornography. The former principal pleaded guilty to watching child pornography.
The U.S. District Court Judge , said at the sentencing, “You think you’ve seen everything. But I have to say this has been a new one for me.”
The former teacher was sentenced to 18-years in prison, lifetime supervised release, and upon release register as a sex offender for 25-years. She’s scheduled to be released in 2027, she’ll be 56.
The former principal was sentenced to 4-years in prison, lifetime supervised release, and upon release register as a sex offender for 15-years. The former principal was released in 2016.
